Job description

A business formed to deliver critical projects ensuring smooth trade between the UK and EU post-Brexit is seeking a Customs Shift Leader to join the team in Worksop. The role involves ensuring customer declarations are completed accurately and timely to facilitate goods movement.

Salary: £27,000 - £31,000 per annum, with benefits including 29 days' holiday (including Bank Holidays) and a pension scheme.

Shifts:

• 4x4 off – 09:30-20:00
• 2-week rotation – 06:00-14:30 / 13:00-21:30
• Rotas: Monday-Thursday / Tuesday-Saturday
• Contracted to either 4x4 off or full flexibility between 06:00-22:00, Monday-Sunday.

Key Responsibilities:

• Preparing and completing customs entries for import and export
• Accurately entering data
• Responding to customs queries, including commodity codes, duty rates, licenses, and documentation
• Calculating duty and VAT
• Maintaining compliance with legislation and customs procedures
• Ensuring shift staffing adequacy
• Developing and assigning tasks to staff, overseeing completion
• Creating development opportunities for staff
• Monitoring team performance and capturing data for staff development
• Communicating document changes effectively to ensure updates and sign-offs
• People management: overseeing the end-to-end lifecycle of team members

Candidate Requirements:

• Customs knowledge is not essential, but ER experience is preferred
• Experience in organizing and assigning shift tasks, holding staff accountable
• Ability to operate in a multi-software environment
