Operations and Maintenance Engineer

Based in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire (Remote options available), Telent is a leader in enabling critical digital infrastructure across the UK. We are seeking an Operations & Maintenance Engineer to service Highways England contracts, focusing on maintenance and commissioning activities within key motorway areas such as the M25, M4, M11, and M1, as well as the A14, M40, and A1(M).

Join a supportive, down-to-earth team where your initiative and problem-solving skills are valued. Your role will involve supervising or performing maintenance, installation, cabling, and civils works to ensure the nation's infrastructure remains connected and protected 24/7.

Responsibilities:

• Attend to cable breaks and repair copper and fibre cables to maintain network integrity.
• Complete commissioning of equipment to standards, on time, and within budget.
• Address equipment issues in Transmission Buildings and Roadside Cabinets, day or night.
• Perform general maintenance, testing, and commissioning on fibre and copper cables.
• Accurately complete all required documentation promptly.

Candidate Requirements:

Previous experience in a similar role, with fault-finding and testing in fibre or copper environments. Knowledge of motorway communication systems, copper jointing, fibre splicing, and testing is essential. Must have strong health and safety awareness, the ability to repair fibre or copper cables, and a full UK driving license. Overtime and callout work may be required.
