Job description

Job Title: Customs Coordinator

Due to company growth, we are seeking an experienced Customs Coordinator to join our client's Logistics Team at their Heathrow branch.

The Customs Coordinator will assist in customs operations, supporting multiple parties to ensure the timely clearance of goods.

Responsibilities include:
  • Supporting the Customs Manager in executing their duties and aligning with the company's vision to enhance competitiveness and profitability.
  • Implementing the department's business development goals to successfully move Customs products.
  • Completing all Customs Import activities accurately and promptly, including financial, legal, and invoicing transactions.
  • Preparing all customs import/export CDS declarations in accordance with UK HMRC regulations.
  • Ensuring all operational activities are completed on time.
  • Reporting any amendments to customs declaration forms immediately to the line manager.
  • Conducting ad-hoc and spot checks on customer entries and submitting reports weekly.
  • Maintaining and utilizing the operational system, Descartes.
  • Charging Import Duties/VAT correctly upon invoicing and collecting due payments as per SOPs.
  • Maintaining regular communication with sales teams regarding new sales leads and shipment handovers.
  • Working in compliance with Company SOPs.
  • Fostering excellent customer and inter-departmental relationships and providing regular feedback to the line manager.
  • Following up on late customer payments with credit control.
  • Communicating quotations promptly and recording them systematically.
  • Implementing process improvements in customer workflows.
  • Generating reports by deadlines and submitting them to the line manager.
  • Ensuring goods are approved for delivery before release.
  • Completing invoicing within 48 hours of activity.
  • Charging insurances correctly and handling insurance claims promptly.
Skills & Experience Required:
  • Knowledge of customs requirements, particularly UK & EU imports.
  • Proficiency with the CDS system for Imports and Exports.
  • Experience with HMRC amendments and reclaim procedures.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

We are interested in speaking to Customs professionals with at least 2 years' experience in Imports/Exports, Customs Compliance, and regulations. Experience in road transport, logistics, or haulage, along with transit procedures and ETSF knowledge, would be advantageous but is not essential.

The successful candidate will be offered a salary of up to £30,000, depending on skills and experience.
