Job summary

HR GO Group in Dover is seeking an import customs clearance specialist to ensure accurate, timely clearance of inbound shipments. You will handle end-to-end clearances, calculate duties and VAT, and prepare documentation for compliant clearance.

The role involves liaising with customers, carriers and HMRC, keeping up to date with UK regulations, and occasional out-of-hours support for urgent movements. A strong IT skills and attention to detail are essential.

• Experience in end-to-end import customs clearance is essential.
• Proven ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Handle end-to-end import customs clearances accurately and efficiently.
• Calculate import duty and VAT with precision.
• Prepare, check and issue import documentation for compliant clearance.
• Manage Road Freight import entries; assist with Air/Sea imports as needed.
• Liaise with customers, carriers, freight partners and HMRC to resolve issues.
• Support internal teams with import clearance updates.
• Keep up to date with UK import regulations and procedures.
• Provide occasional out-of-hours support for urgent imports.

What you'll be doing:

• Handling end-to-end import customs clearances accurately and efficiently
• Calculating import duty and VAT with precision
• Preparing, checking and issuing import documentation to ensure compliant clearance
• Managing Road Freight import entries (with occasional Air/Sea import support if required)
• Liaising with customers, carriers, freight partners and HMRC/customs officials to resolve queries, holds and documentation issues
• Supporting internal teams with import customs questions and clearance updates
• Keeping up to date with changing UK import regulations and procedures
• Providing occasional out-of-hours support for urgent import movements when needed

What we're looking for:

• GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English (A-C)
• Previous import customs clearance experience
• Confident IT skills, particularly Microsoft Office
• Strong communication and customer service skills
• Calm, organised and accurate under pressure with great attention to detail
• Proactive approach to problem-solving and meeting tight deadlines
