Job summary

Thomas Bennett Community College in Crawley is seeking a Lead Practitioner for Geography & Humanities to inspire pupils and raise standards across KS3-5. You will shape curriculum vision, lead teaching and learning, and model best practice as a senior subject leader.

The role demands QTS, a relevant degree, strategic leadership, and the ability to coach staff, monitor progress, and oversee assessment and exam readiness across key stages.

Qualifications

• QTS and a degree in a relevant subject area, with proven success teaching across Key Stages 3 and 4 (and Key Stage 5 where applicable).
• Leads Humanities curriculum design, sequencing, and high-quality teaching and assessment.
• Coaches, mentors, and line-manages colleagues, delivering high-quality professional development and supporting staff performance.

Responsibilities

• Oversee design and implementation of a high-quality Geography & Humanities curriculum across the school.
• Model exemplary teaching and use robust assessment data to secure progress for pupils of all abilities.
• Coach, mentor, and line-manage colleagues, delivering effective professional development and lesson-visit feedback.
• Oversee exam board specifications, moderation, internal standardization, and exam preparation.
• Adapt teaching and curriculum strategies to meet diverse needs including SEND and disadvantaged pupils.
