Job summary

Reed is seeking a Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to work 3 days a week in Orpington, Kent, supporting a student on a Level 1 culinary course. The role involves 1:1 support for SEND learners, promoting independence and safeguarding in a multicultural setting.

Key responsibilities include person-centered support, assisting with personal care when needed, and helping learners develop study skills in line with EHCP outcomes. Strong literacy, numeracy, and IT skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Strong literacy and numeracy skills.
• Proven ability to build positive, trust-based relationships with learners, staff, parents/carers, and professionals.
• Experience working in a multicultural community and safeguarding awareness.
• Confidence in supporting learners with personal care and mobility needs.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, staying calm in various situations.
• Good organisational skills, reliable IT abilities, and administrative practice.
• Experience with SEN learners in secondary or FE settings desirable.

Responsibilities

• Provide person-centred support to learners with complex needs including severe learning difficulties.
• Assist learners with personal care or mobility as needed, with sensitivity and dignity.
• Work with individuals or small groups, adapting style to meet diverse needs and promote independence.
• Support development of learning and study skills aligned with EHCP outcomes.
