Job summary

REED is seeking a dedicated SEND Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to support learners with SEND in Lambeth, London. The role focuses on enabling access to educational programs and services while fostering learners' development.

You will work to support personal and academic growth, including EHCP-related goals, within a diverse college setting. Key duties include providing person-centred support to learners with complex needs, facilitating access to learning programmes, and assisting with

Qualifications

• Good literacy and numeracy skills.
• Ability to establish and maintain relationships with learners, teachers, parents/carers.
• Experience of working in a multi-cultural environment.
• Understanding of safeguarding, discrimination issues, and difficulties faced by those with learning difficulties.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Exceptional organisational skills combined with good IT knowledge and sound administration skills.
• Experience of working with SEND learners in a secondary or further education environment is desirable.
• Child & Adult DBS required.

Responsibilities

• Provide person-centred learning support to learners with severe and complex learning difficulties and/or disabilities.
• Facilitate learners' access to and achievement of learning programmes, supporting their access to all college services and activities.
• Support the personal development of learning/study skills and educational outcomes, including EHCPs.
• Work with individuals or small groups to encourage engagement with activities or to work independently.
• Assist learners with personal care, medical needs, and mobility as necessary, taking instructions from learners regarding their support needs.
