Job summary

West Midlands Police is seeking a Learning & Development Training Officer to design, develop and deliver Interventions-related training across the CT Network.

The role requires national travel, flexibility, and a CET Level 4 qualification or equivalent, with a strong background in training delivery and Counter Terrorism knowledge.

You will work with regional teams, ensure training standards, and support learners while upholding equality and safety policies.

Qualifications

• Sound knowledge of Counter Terrorism Policing and Interventions.
• Holds CET Level 4 or willing to acquire it.
• Willing to work towards CAVA Level 3.
• Experience delivering training to students and trainers.
• Proficient with Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio.
• Identify best practices in Counter Terrorism training.
• Holds a full driving licence.
• Prepared to travel nationally.
• Strong written and verbal communication.
• Ability to prioritise and manage conflicts.
• Ability to influence and collaborate across networks.
• Demonstrate commitment to equality and diversity.

Responsibilities

• Plan, design, prepare, quality assure, co-ordinate and deliver CT training throughout the UK.
• Develop, validate and evaluate courses to meet objectives.
• Deliver national training programmes with regional trainers.
• Update lesson plans and training materials.
• Address training issues from reviews to maintain performance.
• Ensure training packages meet CT Network needs by various methods.
• Assist in reviewing training modules for national programme.
• Identify training gaps for the CT Network.
• Assist with day-to-day admin like attendance and liaison.
• Supervise and support students and mentors.
• Monitor effectiveness through evaluation processes.
• Promote Best Value and safe working environment.
• Ensure equality and opportunity in training practices.
• Collaborate with National and Regional departments for consistency.
