Job summary

WB Power Services Ltd is seeking an experienced Generator Service Engineer to maintain standby diesel power systems across mission-critical data centre environments in the UK. The role focuses on reliability, availability, and performance of power generation equipment, with work at fixed customer sites and an on-call rota.

You will have an NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical/Electrical or related engineering discipline, strong fault-finding skills, and a proactive, customer-focused mindset.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 qualification (or equivalent) in Mechanical, Electrical, Automotive, Plant, or related engineering discipline.
• Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills.
• Excellent communication skills and commitment to delivering outstanding customer service.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a wider engineering team.
• Experience servicing, maintaining, or repairing generators or power systems is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance on standby diesel generators and related equipment.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults to minimise downtime.
• Complete reactive breakdowns and emergency call-outs to agreed service standards.
• Perform inspections, testing, and health checks on generators, engines, alternators, control systems, and ancillary equipment.
• Build strong relationships with customer engineering teams and site stakeholders.
• Maintain health, safety, quality, and environmental compliance.

Education
