Job summary

St John Ambulance is recruiting a Critical Care Transport Assistant to join a co-located team of nurses, doctors and consultants to mobilise a critical care team for stabilising and transporting patients between hospitals and Critical Care Units. You will provide hands-on patient care while supporting families, not merely transporting.

The role is full-time (42 hours per week) with a salary of £29,375 plus 20% USH and 20% overtime enhancement, with potential to earn up to £34K through

Qualifications

• Holder of a full UK manual driving licence (C1) with at least 1 year driving experience and no more than 3 penalty points.
• Hold and maintain an SJA Critical Care Transport Assistant qualification (to be obtained within probationary period).
• Hold and maintain IHCD D1/D2 or a Level 3 CERAD qualification (to be obtained within probationary period).
• Experience of working with customers, patients, or clients in a positive manner.
• Experience of managing conflict and de-escalating situations.

Responsibilities

• Provide safe, stable transport to the clinical team, patient and relatives during journeys.
• Maintain competence in all relevant skills and complete mandatory learning during probation and annually thereafter.
• Ensure vehicle and equipment are fit for purpose, clean, and report defects promptly.
• Work as part of the Critical Care Transport team and support the NHS Clinical Team as trained.
• Render emergency aid as part of the clinical team or independently, while supporting families.
• Accurately complete all documentation relating to patients, vehicles and equipment.
