Job summary

St John Ambulance is seeking a dedicated Critical Care Transport Assistant (CCTA) to join a large team delivering essential first aid and critical care transport in the UK. This full-time role is 42 hours per week, with a salary around £29,374.80 plus enhancements and a path to ~£34K with overtime and unsocial hours.

You will work with nurses, doctors and paramedics to mobilise teams, provide hands-on care where trained, and support families during transport.

Qualifications

• Full UK manual driving licence (C1) required.
• SJA Critical Care Transport Assistant qualification required (or to be obtained during probation).
• IHCD D1/D2 or CERAD qualification required (or to be obtained during probation).
• Experience with customers, patients or clients in a positive manner.
• Experience of managing conflict and de-escalating situations.

Responsibilities

• Provide safe, stable transport to the clinical team, patient and relatives during journeys.
• Maintain competence in all relevant skills and knowledge and complete mandatory learning during/after probation.
• Ensure vehicle and equipment are fit for purpose, report defects promptly.
• Work as part of the Critical Care Transport team and support NHS clinical staff.
• Render emergency aid and support families with information and compassion while in transit.
• Complete all documentation accurately and timely.
