Job summary

Dumfries and Galloway Council is seeking a Senior Refuse & Recycling Operative to cover Dumfries & Galloway. The role is based at our depot in Cargen Tower, Dumfries, working 28.75 hours per week across 52.14 weeks per year, performing refuse and recycling collection duties for domestic and commercial properties.

The post requires a Class C HGV licence, valid Driver CPC, and Health and Safety awareness; you must work both independently and as part of a team, with a Disclosure Scotland check.

Qualifications

• Requires Class C HGV licence and valid Driver CPC.
• Health & safety awareness in waste management.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Drive and operate refuse, recycling, food waste and bulky collection vehicles.
• Ensure daily collection routes are completed safely and efficiently.
• Follow Health & Safety procedures and Safe Working Practices.
• Carry out other duties related to Waste Collection Services as instructed by supervisor.
