Job summary

Monzo is hiring a Credit Risk Oversight Manager to strengthen our second line of defence as we scale lending across consumer and small business products. You’ll analyse portfolio performance, develop monitoring metrics and provide independent challenge to risk management.

You’ll partner with first line teams on strategy changes, support new product launches, and work with model validation and development teams to understand credit models.

Qualifications

• Strong background in credit risk management within consumer or small business lending.
• Proven analytical skills to interrogate data and identify trends.
• Experience using credit risk scorecards and NPV models to develop strategies for making credit decisions.
• SQL is a must‑have; data visualization tools such as Looker/PowerBI/Tableau are a plus.
• Interest in exploring how AI tools can improve credit and risk management processes.
• Ability to communicate problems and solutions clearly to non‑experts.

Responsibilities

• Provide ongoing oversight of credit risk and analyze performance of existing lending products.
• Develop and enhance monitoring metrics and provide input to committees and forums.
• Partner with first line of defence teams to support risk strategy changes for new products and pilots.
• Deliver data‑driven insight and counter‑proposals to support management decisions.
• Lead second line assurance work on thematic reviews.
• Collaborate with model validation and development teams to understand underpinning credit models.
• Contribute credit expertise to strategic projects such as stress testing and forecasting.
• Help maintain and embed the Credit Risk Framework across the business.
• Promote a balanced approach to risk management across the organisation.
