Job summary

William James Recruitment is seeking a Technical Credit Hire Solicitor in Manchester with hybrid working. The role combines hands-on caseload work with a technical leadership duty to raise standards across the team.

You will supervise and mentor fee earners, embed best practices, and ensure client SLAs and KPIs are met while developing colleagues across the department. Strong credit hire litigation knowledge is essential.

Qualifications

• Qualified Solicitor, CILEX Lawyer or equivalent with the appropriate practice rights
• Proven litigation experience in credit hire or motor recoveries, or related claimant/defendant litigation
• Previous experience managing your own litigated caseload
• Strong understanding of credit hire litigation, including liability, recoverability, quantum and strategy
• Experience supervising, mentoring or training colleagues
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines
• Proactive approach to identify and drive improvements in technical quality

Responsibilities

• Managing a small caseload of litigated credit hire claims
• Supervising and mentoring fee earners to strengthen technical capability and support performance
• Supporting the Technical Manager in embedding best practice and maintaining the Recoveries Quality Framework
• Working with Team Leaders and senior stakeholders to ensure client SLAs, KPIs and service standards are achieved
• Identifying training needs and delivering coaching, mentoring and onboarding support
• Supporting new starters through the competency framework to achieve financial authority within six months
• Monitoring workflows and identifying technical risks and opportunities to improve quality and efficiency
