Job summary

Confidential in Gloucester is hiring two experienced Credit Controllers to join the order-to-cash team on an initial 6-month contract. The role will involve clearing a backlog of over £3 million in B2B debt, with high volumes of calls to chase payments and maintain records.

Hybrid: four days in the office during the first 2–3 weeks of training, then three days thereafter. Strong permanent opportunities may follow for successful candidates.

Qualifications

• Demonstrable experience of making high-volume outbound calls in a B2B environment.
• Experience in credit control, accounts receivable or sales ledger.
• Strong numerical ability with excellent attention to detail.
• Confident, clear, professional telephone manner.
• Ability to handle difficult conversations calmly while maintaining relationships.
• Proficiency in Excel and using a finance/ERP system (Sage, SAP, Xero, or similar).
• Excellent organisational and time-management skills with a busy workload.
• Experience working to KPIs such as DSO targets, call volumes or cash collection.

Responsibilities

• Manage an allocated portfolio of customer accounts and monitor outstanding balances.
• Make a high volume of outbound calls to chase invoices and overdue balances.
• Maintain a structured call schedule prioritising by value, age of debt and risk.
• Engage with accounts payable, finance teams and decision-makers.
• Follow up calls with written confirmation of payment dates and resolutions.
• Assist with bad debt identification.
• Investigate unallocated or short payments and resolve discrepancies.
• Maintain up-to-date records of all payment activity in the collections system.
• Refer unresolved disputes to the query management team with supporting documentation.
• Communicate regularly with the query management team on progress and resolution dates.
