Join the Close Brothers Invoice Finance Team as a Credit Controller, where your role will be to proactively pursue the collection of overdue debts, maintaining a debt turn within required standards on a portfolio of approximately 30 clients / 1,000 customers. You should be able to identify when legal action may be necessary.

Our ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills and aim to deliver positive customer experiences while maintaining a commercial focus during every interaction.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Handle collections on a portfolio of around 1,000 live customers competently.
  2. Achieve collection targets through action lists set during review objectives, using phone and email correspondence.
  3. Provide excellent customer service and build strong relationships with clients.
  4. Maintain accurate client/customer narratives, logging all calls made and received.
  5. Monitor portfolios monthly, highlighting concerns as appropriate; review 90+ day debts and 60+ day accounts with BDP in place, reporting to the Credit Control manager.
  6. Minimize bad debt levels by taking appropriate collection actions using CC tools, and escalate to Specialist Collections SME when necessary.
  7. Maintain debt turn targets for individual clients, your portfolio, and team goals for monthly reporting.
  8. Handle complaints effectively, ensuring good outcomes and lessons learned.
  9. Adhere to governance and compliance requirements, completing all reporting activities mandated by regulatory bodies.
  10. Report promptly to line management and Client Managers regarding issues of concern.
  11. Monitor and adjust funding and BDP limits according to standard procedures.
  12. Address customer queries appropriately.
  13. Ensure refund paperwork is completed accurately following standard operating procedures to ensure the safe return of funds.
  14. Perform any other duties as assigned by your line manager.

  • Experience in credit control.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure handling high volumes of emails.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook and Excel.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for effective stakeholder and customer communication.
  • A process-driven approach with a desire to improve processes and customer experience.

IT WOULD BE GREAT IF YOU HAVE:

  • Experience or qualification in the Invoice Finance industry.
  • Understanding of the litigation process related to insolvency and recovery routes.
  • Qualifications or experience in customer service.
