Job summary

ESS – Defence, Energy and Government Services is seeking a Chef to support Defence-facing catering on a full-time basis (37.5 hours/week). The role involves preparing high-quality meals, supervising kitchen staff, and implementing menu changes to delight clients across Defence sites.

Candidates should hold City & Guilds 706/1 & 2 or NVQ equivalent and a Food Hygiene certificate, with a flexible approach to shifts.

• Must be passionate about great-tasting food and exceptional customer service.
• Experience supervising a team in a kitchen environment.
• Experience in a similar Chef role.
• Hold a Food Hygiene certificate.
• Flexible approach to working.

Responsibilities

• Preparing delicious, high-quality food that delights clients and customers.
• Overseeing and implementing menu changes.
• Identifying opportunities to improve food services.
• Listening and acting on customer feedback to improve services.
• Supporting creation of new menus and creative food concepts.
• Representing Defence and maintaining a positive brand image.
• Monitoring inventories to keep kitchens well-stocked.
• Overseeing kitchen cleaning to maintain hygiene standards.
• Complying with Food Handling, Hygiene and Health and Safety regulations
