Job summary

Avon Search's client in Dorking, Surrey, is seeking an Activities Coordinator for a luxury retirement home. You will plan and deliver a varied activities programme, tailored to residents' interests and abilities, to keep them active, socially connected and engaged in daily life.

The role requires energy, creativity and a genuine passion for supporting older people; you will work with care staff to ensure activities suit individual needs and contribute to a warm, not-for-profit environment.

Activities Coordinator – Luxury Retirement Home – AV2064B

Location: Dorking, Surrey
Pay: £14.36 per hour
Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00am – 5:00pm

About the Home

We are recruiting on behalf of a welcoming and well-established residential care home in Dorking, Surrey, providing support for up to 44 residents.

The home offers a warm, homely environment where residents can enjoy an active and vibrant community. Residents are encouraged to maintain an enjoyable and fulfilling lifestyle, with regular activities, trips and a variety of social events taking place throughout the year.

As part of a not-for-profit charitable organisation, the home places people before profits. With no shareholders demanding returns, the focus remains firmly on enhancing the wellbeing, dignity and quality of life of residents.

The team takes a deeply personal approach to care, taking the time to understand each resident’s individual needs, preferences and personality. Activities play an important role in helping residents remain socially connected, active and engaged.

The Role

As an Activities Coordinator, you will be responsible for planning and delivering a varied programme of activities that encourages residents to remain active, socially connected and engaged in daily life.

You will get to know residents individually, taking the time to understand their interests, hobbies, abilities and preferences so that activities can be tailored to suit different needs.

The successful candidate will bring energy, creativity and enthusiasm to the role, helping to create a lively and stimulating environment where residents can enjoy meaningful experiences.

Your Responsibilities Will Include:
  • Planning and coordinating a varied programme of activities
  • Organising activities to suit residents’ individual interests, abilities and preferences

    About You

    We are looking for an enthusiastic and creative Activities Coordinator who genuinely enjoys spending time with older people and creating opportunities for them to enjoy meaningful and stimulating experiences.

    You will ideally have:

    • Previous experience organising activities, events or social programmes, ideally within a care setting
    • A creative, enthusiastic and outgoing personality
    • Genuine passion for supporting older people
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    • Ability to engage with people from different backgrounds and with varying abilities
    • Good organisational and time-management skills
    • Ability to plan and manage a varied programme of activities
