Job summary

Lloyds British, part of the Speedy Hire Group, is seeking an experienced Crane Engineer in Southampton to join our growing team. You will inspect, service and repair cranes and lifting equipment across customer sites while ensuring safety and compliance.

You will diagnose faults, carry out load and functional tests, document maintenance activities and provide technical support with excellent customer service.

Qualifications

• Experience working with cranes, lifting equipment or related mechanical systems.
• Experience servicing, maintaining or inspecting crane equipment.
• Strong mechanical and electrical fault‑finding skills.
• NVQ/City & Guilds or LEEA qualifications desirable.
• Experience in testing, inspection or service environments.
• Good problem-solving and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Commitment to ESG initiatives (Decade to Deliver).

Responsibilities

• Carry out inspections, servicing and maintenance of cranes and lifting equipment.
• Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults and perform repairs.
• Carry out load testing and functional testing.
• Produce accurate inspection and maintenance documentation.
• Ensure all work is safe and compliant with legislation and standards.
• Provide technical advice and high‑quality customer service.
• Work independently on-site and coordinate with the wider engineering team.
