Job summary

Get Staffed Online Recruitment is seeking an experienced Lifting Equipment Engineer (Overhead Crane Specialist) to join our field service team. You will maintain, inspect, and repair overhead cranes for diverse industrial clients, delivering safety-focused service and timely certifications.

The role requires hands-on electrical and mechanical expertise, working at heights, and a full UK driving licence, with opportunities for training and career development in line with LEEA qualifications.

Qualifications

Time-served apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3 in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
Experience on overhead gantry cranes, jib cranes and wire rope hoists.
Strong fault-finding skills; able to read wiring diagrams.
LEEA qualifications are highly desirable.
Comfortable working at heights and in heavy industrial environments.
Full UK driving licence is essential.

Responsibilities

Conduct statutory examinations, testing, and certification of overhead cranes and lifting gear in line with LOLER and PUWER.
Troubleshoot and repair complex electrical and mechanical faults on cranes, hoists and lifting attachments.
Carry out planned preventative maintenance to minimise client downtime.
Assist with installation, commissioning, and modernisation of lifting systems.
Complete detailed digital inspection reports and safety certificates promptly.
Participate in rotating on-call breakdown rota for key clients.
