Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment is seeking confident Cover Supervisors to work across Teesside secondary schools. You’ll supervise classes during short-term absences, with pre-planned lessons and resources provided, while keeping pupils engaged and completing work.

Flexible patterns include full-time, part-time, or day-to-day supply, with access to a wide network of schools and ongoing CPD opportunities. Previous school experience isn’t essential, but experience leading groups of young people is

Responsibilities

• Keep pupils engaged and on task.
• Provide support and guidance where appropriate.
• Create a positive and productive classroom environment.

Tradewind Recruitment is currently seeking confident, enthusiastic, and reliable Cover Supervisors to work across a variety of secondary schools throughout Teesside.

This is an excellent opportunity for sports coaches, activity leaders, youth workers, graduates, aspiring teachers, or anyone with experience leading groups of young people who would like to gain valuable experience within a secondary school environment.

Previous school experience isn't essential; however, experience leading groups of young people or delivering structured sessions is essential.

About the Role:

As a Cover Supervisor, you will supervise classes during the short-term absence of the usual class teacher. Lessons and resources will already be prepared, so your main responsibility will be managing the classroom, keeping pupils engaged, and ensuring they complete the work set.

Your responsibilities may include:

• Supervising classes across KS3 and KS4
• Delivering pre-planned lessons and activities
• Managing classroom behaviour in line with school policies
• Keeping pupils engaged and on task
• Providing support and guidance where appropriate
• Creating a positive and productive classroom environment
• Providing feedback to teaching staff following lessons
• Supporting different departments and subject areas across the school

Requirements:

• Experience leading groups of young people or delivering structured sessions is essential
• Experience as a sports coach, activity leader, youth worker, tutor, mentor, teaching assistant, or similar would be particularly suitable
• Confidence managing groups of young people
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Good behaviour management skills
• A proactive, adaptable, and reliable approach
• A valid DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one)
• Two professional references covering the last 2 years
