Job summary

Old Swinford Hospital in Stourbridge seeks a Cover Supervisor / Day Student Pastoral and Learning Mentor to engage pupils across subjects. Term-time, full-time role with 35 hours weekly, 8:15am–3:45pm, at £13.47 per hour plus holiday pay.

The post includes pastoral duties, learning support and collaboration with teaching staff; a degree is desirable, with strong ICT and communication skills desired to foster student development.

Qualifications

• Educated to degree level (desirable).
• GCSE Maths and English grade C or above.
• Motivation to work with children and young people.
• Experience in a classroom role including organisation and management.
• Ability to deliver curriculum with effective behaviour and learning strategies.
• Good administrative, organisational and computer skills.
• Work constructively as part of a team and show initiative.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Supervise work set by absent teachers to maintain learning atmosphere.
• Provide pastoral support and track attendance for day students.
• Support planning and delivery of the curriculum.
• Assist with supervision before/after lessons and co-curriculars.
• Maintain classroom discipline and high expectations.
• Report issues using established procedures; liaise with parents when needed.
