Job summary

Hallfield School in Edgbaston, Birmingham, is seeking a calm, adaptable Cover Supervisor to support pupils from Year 3 to Year 11. You will deliver lessons planned by subject specialists and form teachers, maintaining learning in the absence of the regular teacher.

The role is permanent, term-time only (35 weeks plus INSET days) with a 40-hour week from 8:00am to 4:30pm, Monday to Friday. A degree is required; HLTA or QTS would be advantageous and safeguarding responsibilities are essential.

Qualifications

• Applicants must be degree qualified with relevant experience, working with children (ideally within both primary and secondary settings).
• A Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) qualification or Qualified Teacher Status would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Supervising classes when teachers are absent and delivering lessons planned by subject specialists and form teachers.
• Helping pupils stay focused, maintain good order and ensure consistent learning.
• Providing support with break and lunch duties, marking as directed, and providing clear handovers to other teachers.
• Supporting elsewhere in the school, when teaching is not required, including as an additional adult in science, sports or practical lessons.
