Job summary

Old Swinford Hospital is looking for a Cover Supervisor / Day Student and Learning Mentor to supervise classes and support day students during term time. The role requires motivating pupils and maintaining a positive learning environment under teacher guidance.

The successful candidate will assist with pastoral support, manage behaviours, and help deliver the curriculum alongside staff. A safeguarding check will be completed as part of the recruitment process.

Qualifications

• Educated to degree level (desirable)
• GCSE Maths and English Grade C or above
• Motivation to work with children and young people
• Experience in a classroom role including classroom organisation and management
• Ability to undertake a range of teaching activities with confidence
• Good administrative, organisational and computer skills
• Work constructively and collaboratively as part of a team
• Effective use of ICT to support learning
• Excellent oral and written communication skills

Responsibilities

• Under the guidance of teaching staff to provide supervision to whole classes during the short-term absence of teachers.
• Provides adult supervision for day students before lessons, during break and lunchtimes alongside other staff.
• Work with other staff to provide pastoral support and in tracking and monitoring behaviour and attendance of day students.
