Job summary

The Becket School is seeking a cover supervisor to ensure a high‑quality learning experience when a teacher is away. You will supervise KS3/KS4 (and occasional KS5) and support pre-designed activities to keep students on task and progressing.

This fixed-term maternity cover starts Nov 2026 for up to 52 weeks, with 26 hours per week during term time. Join a caring community committed to excellent outcomes and supportive CPD opportunities.

Job description

As a cover supervisor you will be responsible for ensuring that students have a high-quality learning experience when their usual teacher is away from school.

You will manage classroom behaviour to ensure pupils stay on task and facilitate the activities that have been designed by teaching staff to ensure that students complete the work in an effective learning environment.

This role offers you the chance to step in and lead lessons in the absence of the regular teacher, primarily for KS3 and KS4 students, with occasional work at KS5. You’ll also have the opportunity to make a broader contribution across the Academy.

This is a fixed term maternity cover role starting from November 2026 (depending on the completion of pre-employment checks) for up to 52 weeks or earlier should our colleague on maternity leave decides to return early for whatever reasons. You will be working for 26 hours per week, term time only.
