Job summary

Joseph Leckie Academy is seeking a motivated Cover Supervisor to deliver pre-planned lessons and support form times. You will work under teaching staff guidance to ensure continuity of learning when staff are absent and contribute to a culture of high expectations and inclusion.

We welcome applicants who can work independently, manage time effectively, and are committed to supporting students across key stages 3 and 4. DBS checks are required.

Qualifications

• GCSEs including English and Maths at Level 4 (Grade C) or above.
• Experience of working with students at Key stage 3 and 4 is preferred.
• Strong commitment to safeguarding and equal opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Deliver pre-planned lessons and form times.
• Work under the instruction and guidance of teaching staff to provide programmes of learning, care and support for students.
• Cover lessons when staff are absent as part of the Cover team.
• Contribute to a culture of inclusion and high expectations.

The Role

Are you a motivated and independent person who is committed to supporting our students and staff? We are looking to appoint a dynamic and forward-thinking Cover Supervisor, to work as part of the Cover team to deliver lessons when staff are absent. The successful person will work under the instruction and guidance of teaching staff, Heads of Subjects and Heads of Year, to undertake the work set by staff to provide programmers of learning, care and support for our students.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone who wants to make a difference to the lives of our students. We offer excellent support and a thorough induction programme to guide the successful applicant, whether they are new to the role or experienced in working with students.

In addition, this is an ideal opportunity for the successful candidate, with the right qualifications, to use this as a stepping stone into teaching or to develop skills for other roles in the future, including many opportunities for further professional development within our rapidly expanding Academy.

Experience of working with secondary age students and specific subject knowledge and experience in specialist subject areas, especially core subjects, would be an advantage. The ability to cover practical lessons would also be advantageous.

The successful candidate should:

• have at least 5 GCSE’s including English and Maths at Level 4 (Grade C) or above and A levels and or higher qualifications would be advantageous.
• have some experience of working with students at Key stage 3 and 4 in particular.
• have a passion for learning and working with children to support them in their learning across a range of subjects and topics.
• be able to work independently and manage own time to arrive on time to cover lessons and deliver the materials set.
• have the ability to motivate, inspire and go the extra mile for our students.
• have the ability to stimulate curiosity, interest and enjoyment in lessons covered and develop students wider understanding of the world around them.
• be able to inspire students and get the best from them.
• be positive, enthusiastic and resilient.
• be an effective team member.
• have highly developed inter - personal skills, communication and excellent ICT skills.
• be able to work effectively with students, staff and parents.
• have a clear understanding of the importance of Safeguarding and equal opportunities.
• meet the job specification criteria.
