Job summary

St Joseph’s Catholic Academy in Hebburn, England, is seeking a Cover Supervisor to ensure continuity of lessons when staff are absent, including PE and practical activities. The majority of our pupils come from Hebburn and Jarrow with some travelling from much further afield.

St Joseph’s Catholic Academy is part of Bishop Chadwick Catholic Education Trust which is one of four Trusts in the Diocese of Hexham and Newcastle. The Trust includes five Secondary and twenty-five Primary Schools across South Tyneside, Sunderland and East Durham, which offers the opportunity to work collaboratively. The Role

As a Cover Supervisor, you will be responsible for providing continuity of lessons when teaching staff are absent, which may include PE and other practical activity-based lessons.

Your day will be varied, and will include administrative tasks, as well as providing cover in the classroom. Priorities may change during the course of the day, so you will need to have a flexible and adaptable approach to your work.

There is also a pastoral element to this role, supporting student wellbeing and development, overseeing tutor time learning activities and delivering the PSHE curriculum, whilst also supporting other aspects of school life such as Detentions, Punctuality and Personal Development.
