Job summary

Prospero Teaching is recruiting Cover Supervisors in Tamworth and surrounding areas to support secondary schools on a range of bookings.

Roles include daily, short-term, and long-term placements with a 8:30am–4:00pm schedule, term-time only. Start ASAP on a temporary contract with full-time/part-time options depending on school needs.

Qualifications

• Relevant qualifications and experience leading classes or supporting secondary-aged students in an educational setting.
• Up-to-date Safeguarding training is required; Prospero Teaching can provide training if needed.
• Previous experience as a Cover Supervisor or related support role is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Deliver pre-planned lessons in the absence of the class teacher
• Manage classroom behaviour and maintain a positive learning environment
• Support students across a range of subjects and year groups
• Ensure students stay on task and engaged with learning
• Provide feedback to teaching staff regarding student progress, engagement, and behaviour
• Build positive relationships with students and staff
• Support the wider school community when required

Key Responsibilities

Experience, Training and Qualifications

• Relevant qualifications and experience leading classes or supporting secondary-aged students in an educational setting
• Previous experience as a Cover Supervisor, HLTA, Teaching Assistant, Tutor, Learning Mentor, Sports Coach, or Youth Worker is highly desirable
• Strong classroom and behaviour management skills are essential
• Up-to-date Safeguarding training is required. If you have not completed Safeguarding training within the last 12 months, Prospero Teaching can provide this free of charge

To Be Eligible for Any Role with Prospero Teaching, You Must:

• Hold the Right to Work in the UK
• Possess an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the Update Service, or be willing to process a new application
• Provide two professional child-related references

The successful candidate will be required to register and pass all safeguarding and vetting checks before commencing work.
