Job summary

Prospero Teaching in Sunderland is seeking a Cover Supervisor to deliver pre-prepared lessons across a range of subjects, maintaining a positive learning environment throughout the day.

You will manage behaviour, build constructive relationships with pupils and staff, identify learners who may need extra support, and work closely with teaching and support colleagues to ensure progress. The role is full-time, temporary with potential to go permanent, starting September 2026.

• Right to work in the UK and DBS check requirements

About the role:

• Delivering pre-prepared lessons across a range of subjects, maintaining a positive and productive learning environment.
• Managing behaviours within the classroom and building positive relationships with the pupils, ensuring they have the tools and knowledge to succeed.
• Identifying pupils who might be struggling and providing additional support where required and keeping an accurate up to date record on all progress.
• Working collaboratively with other teaching and support staff.

Pay, hours and contract:

• Pay: Between £15-17 per hour
• Hours: 8:30am - 15:30pm, Monday - Friday
• Contract: Full time, temporary with the potential of going permanent
• Start date: September 2026
• Location: Sunderland

Experience/Qualifications and Requirements:

• Experience in a similar role or setting, ideally within a school environment
• QTS or PGCE desired
• Confident working within a group setting
• An ability to build healthy relationships with pupils and staff
• Kind, positive and proactive nature
• Right to work in the UK
• Hold an updated DBS certificate on the update service or the willingness to process a new application
• Professional child or care-related references covering the last two years
