Job summary

Prospero Teaching are recruiting an experienced Cover Supervisor to support a secondary school in the Sefton area. The role runs from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm on a day-to-day basis, with responsibilities including managing a classroom, supervising set work and guiding students as they complete tasks set by the teacher.

The ideal candidate will be confident with Mathematics, English, and another subject, with strong behaviour management.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working with young people in a school setting.
• Safeguarding training within the last year is desirable, some training provided.

Responsibilities

• Classroom Management: Maintaining a positive learning environment and ensuring students stay on task.
• Delivering Pre-Set Work: Supervising students as they complete work left by the teacher and ensuring lessons are carried out.
• Supporting Students: Assisting students with questions to help understanding tasks.
• Behaviour Management: Enforcing school policies and addressing issues as they arise.
• Record Keeping: Documenting attendance and notable incidents during class.

Cover Supervisor

• Position - Cover Supervisor
• Start date - September 2026
• Full time/part time - Day to Day
• Minimum rate of pay - Paid to scale
• Hours - 8:00 am - 16:00 pm

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Classroom Management: Maintaining a positive learning environment and ensuring that students stay on task.
• Delivering Pre-Set Work: Supervising students as they complete work left by the teacher. Ensure that the planned lessons are carried out.
• Supporting Students: Assisting students with any questions or difficulties they might have with the work, ensuring that everyone understands the tasks.
• Behaviour Management: Enforcing school policies regarding student behaviour and dealing with any issues that arise.
• Record Keeping: Documenting attendance and any noteworthy incidents during the class.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING AND QUALIFICATIONS

• Previous experience working with young people in a school setting
• Up to date Safeguarding training issued in the last year (desirable however not essential as some training is provided)

TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR THIS ROLE THROUGH PROSPERO TEACHING, YOU MUST:

• Hold Right to Work in the UK
• Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application.

• Provide at least two professional references covering at least 24 months/cover the last 2 years
