Job summary

Prospero Teaching is recruiting Cover Supervisors to work across secondary schools in Wigan, supporting students from KS3 to KS5. You’ll step into the classroom during teacher absences, delivering pre-planned work and helping students stay focused and engaged.

We have opportunities ranging from day-to-day supply and individual lesson cover to longer-term placements, with some short-term bookings developing into extended assignments.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a UK school, preferably around 6 months.
• Teaching or education-related qualifications, although these aren't essential.
• Recent safeguarding training, although training can be provided.

The role

• Location: Schools across Wigan
• Pay: From £95 per day, negotiable depending on experience and qualifications
• Start: September 2026
• Hours: Typically 8:30am-3:30pm, although school hours may vary
• Contract: Temporary
• Availability: Full-time, part-time, half-day and individual lesson opportunities

What we're looking for

You’ll need to be confident managing classroom behaviour and comfortable working with secondary-aged students.

What you'll need

• Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS registered on the Update Service, or be willing to apply for one
• Provide two professional references covering the last two years
• Provide an appropriate CV history
