Job summary

The Supply Register Ltd, in partnership with Birley Academy in Sheffield, is recruiting a Cover Supervisor to support learning during teacher absence. You will supervise classes, deliver pre-set materials, maintain a positive, well-managed environment, and help pupils stay focused and engaged.

The role requires experience with secondary students, strong classroom and behaviour management, safeguarding awareness, and willingness to obtain an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service.

Qualifications

• Experience in managing classrooms and maintaining order during teacher absence.
• Ability to support learning and deliver pre-set lesson materials.
• Proven ability to engage secondary students and maintain focus.
• Understanding of safeguarding responsibilities in a school setting.
• Willingness to obtain Enhanced DBS via Update Service (if not already held).

Cover Supervisor - Birley Academy, Sheffield

The Supply Register is working in partnership with Birley Academy to recruit a Cover Supervisor to support the school with high-quality, flexible staffing.

This is a great opportunity for someone with experience working with young people who is confident leading a classroom and supporting learning in the absence of the class teacher.

The role includes:

• Supervising whole classes during teacher absence
• Delivering pre-set lesson materials
• Maintaining a positive and well-managed classroom environment
• Supporting students to stay focused and engaged
• Managing behaviour in line with school policies
• Providing feedback on pupil progress and behaviour

We're looking for candidates who:

• Have experience working with secondary-aged students
• Are confident with classroom and behaviour management
• Communicate effectively and professionally
• Understand safeguarding responsibilities
• Hold high expectations for student behaviour and learning
• Hold (or are willing to obtain) an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service
