Job summary

Greater Peterborough UTC is seeking a Cover Supervisor to join our supportive staff team. There is no requirement to be a qualified teacher, only a passion to support students. The role covers KS3–KS4 and involves supervising classes during short-term absences while following a programme of study.

The successful candidate will engage with learners, support departments, and contribute to raising standards across the academy. 32.5 hours per week, 39 weeks per year.

Qualifications

  • Good educational background with excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience of working within the education sector and with young people is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of using IT software such as Microsoft Office and Email.
  • Interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with staff, students, parents and external agencies.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise classes across KS3 & KS4 following a programme of study during short-term absence.
  • Actively engage with the class and follow classroom procedures.
  • Contribute to raising standards by providing support to departments and the academy.
  • Provide feedback on learning activities and contribute to development planning.

Vacancy for Cover Supervisor

Salary: Meridian Trust Grade 6, Points 7-12 of the Meridian Trust Support pay scale.

Hours of work: 32.5 hours per week, Monday-Friday 08:30-15:30, 39 weeks per year.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Cover Supervisor to join our support staff team. There is no requirement to be a qualified teacher, only a passion to support students. Some experience working with young people would be advantageous but not essential.

The successful candidate will be required to supervise classes across the curriculum (KS3 & KS4) following a programme of study during the short-term absence of their class teacher. They will be able to actively engage with the class and follow all classroom procedures and to contribute to raising standards by providing support to departments and the whole academy.

The opportunity

  • Provide valuable feedback on learning activities and contribute towards development planning.

The ideal candidate

  • Good educational background with excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Experience of subject background and working within the education sector
  • Knowledge of using different IT software such as Microsoft Office, Email
  • interpersonal skills to communicate effectively and professionally with staff, students, parents and outside agencies.
  • Positive and enthusiastic approach with the ability to work within a team as well as on own initiative.
  • Knowledge of the need for confidentiality and awareness of child protection issues
  • Flexibility of working hours, committed and reliable with excellent timekeeping
