Job summary

Thames Park Secondary School is seeking an experienced Cover Supervisor to support cover across the school’s timetable. You will supervise classes, deliver work set by the class teacher and provide timely feedback on pupil progress and lesson conduct.

The role requires ability to support pupils with learning, emotional and behavioural difficulties, excellent written skills, strong communication, calmness under pressure and strict adherence to safeguarding procedures.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Supervise classes and support pupils.
  • Deliver cover work set by the class teacher.
  • Provide feedback on pupil progress and lesson conduct.
  • Handle immediate problems or emergencies per school policy.
  • Collect completed work and return to the appropriate teacher.
  • Assist teachers with administrative tasks when not covering a class.
  • Act as a role model with high behaviour standards.

Job description

Thames Park Secondary School wishes to appoint an experienced, enthusiastic and flexible Cover Supervisor to support cover within the school. Thames Park Secondary School is a part of Osborne Co-operative Academy Trust, our schools have previously supported Cover Supervisors to complete their Teaching Training and progress to teachers within their schools.

Key duties of the role:

  • Supervising classes and supporting pupils
  • Delivering cover work set by the class teacher
  • Providing feedback to the classroom teacher on the pupil’s progress against lesson plans, conduct of the lesson and keeping pupil related records
  • Dealing with any immediate problems or emergencies according to the school’s policies and procedures
  • Collecting any completed work after the lesson and returning it to the appropriate teacher
  • Provide additional support to teachers in classrooms, to carry out administrative tasks when not covering a class
  • Act as a role model, setting high expectations of conduct and behaviour and adhering to the school’s behaviour management policy

The successful candidate will have:

  • The ability to support pupils with learning, emotional and behavioural difficulties
  • Excellent written skills with the ability to multi-task
  • Excellent communication skills, with a positive and helpful attitude
  • The ability to remain calm under pressure and remain positive
  • The ability to follow safeguarding procedures and prioritise students’ welfare
