Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment is recruiting for Secondary Cover Supervisors to work across Ipswich and surrounding areas. Positions include daily supply, short-term, and longer-term assignments across various secondary schools.

You can choose assignments that fit your availability, gain experience across subjects, and enjoy support from a dedicated consultant in the local market. Weekly pay and access to CPD are provided.

Qualifications

• Previous secondary school experience is desirable.
• Experience in supervising classes and maintaining discipline.

Responsibilities

• Supervise classes across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.
• Deliver pre-planned lessons and activities provided by the school.
• Maintain a calm, positive learning environment and manage behaviour.
• Take registers and follow school procedures.
• Support pupils with their learning where appropriate.
• Provide feedback to teachers regarding pupil engagement and behaviour.

We are working with a wide range of secondary schools across Ipswich and the surrounding Suffolk area, offering flexible opportunities throughout the 2026/2027 academic year.

Whether you're available one day a week or five, looking for day-to-day supply, a short-term assignment, a longer-term placement or the opportunity to secure a permanent position, we'll work with you to find the right schools and assignments.

What You'll Be Doing

• Supervise classes across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.
• Deliver pre-planned lessons and learning activities provided by the school.

• Manage classroom behaviour confidently and consistently.
• Ensure pupils remain engaged, focused and on task.
• Take registers and follow school procedures.
• Support pupils with their learning where appropriate.
• Provide encouragement and maintain high expectations.
• Work alongside teaching, pastoral and support staff.
• Provide feedback to teachers regarding pupil engagement and behaviour.
• Follow safeguarding procedures and report concerns appropriately.
• Adapt confidently to different schools, subjects, year groups and classroom environments.
