Job summary

MARI Group in Melbourne is seeking a meticulous Course Manager to own the field of play across our running events. You will manage planning, permits, traffic, and staffing to ensure safe, compliant courses for events such as the Melbourne Marathon Festival.

The role requires in-person presence in Melbourne and close collaboration with the Event Services team. You will build strong relationships with councils, suppliers, and volunteers, optimise costs, and plan for future course changes while

Qualifications

• Experience managing mass-participation or major running events.
• Strong knowledge of event permitting and governance.
• Hands-on experience with traffic management plans.
• Experience sourcing and training course staff and contractors.
• Demonstrated cost discipline and sustainability focus.

Responsibilities

• Own start line through finish and coordinate with Event Services for a seamless day.
• Develop end-to-end course field-of-play plans including aid stations and spectator zones.
• Oversee permits, approvals, and resident communications ahead of events.
• Lead traffic management planning and liaise with councils and sponsors.
• Plan for future course changes and city/venue adaptations.
• Manage course staff, equipment, and supplier contracts.
• Uphold safety, risk and duty of care across all operations.
• Support volunteers in placement and training on event day.
