Job summary

RunThrough is seeking an Event Manager to own weekend running events, delivering high-quality course experiences across the region. This role is hands-on, focused on on-site delivery with training provided and close collaboration with the team in weekly planning meetings.

You will set up, manage and oversee the course, coordinate with volunteers, staff and suppliers, and ensure safety and smooth operations across events.

Qualifications

• Experience in event delivery, operations, or volunteering, preferably mass participation or sporting events.
• Strong organisational skills with ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Confident leading teams including staff and volunteers.
• Willingness to work outdoors in varying conditions and Drive licence (UK) is essential.

Responsibilities

• Lead the setup, delivery, and breakdown of the course at weekend running events.
• Oversee on-the-day course operations, ensuring events run smoothly, safely, and on schedule.
• Mark out the course, including signage, barriers and cones, and walk or drive it ahead of the event.
• Manage and brief course marshals, event staff and volunteers.
• On-site coordination with suppliers (timing, medical, etc.) to deliver seamless events.
• Act as the main point of contact for course issues, resolving them as they arise.
• Provide a safe, well-organised and welcoming experience for all participants.
• Maintain high standards of presentation, safety, and efficiency.
• Support event logistics including equipment loading, transport, and pack down.
• Attend weekly planning meetings to align on upcoming events.
• Van drop off and collection as required.

• Salary range: £28,000 - £32,000 + bonus scheme

Role Overview

The Event Manager will take ownership of delivering high-quality course experiences across RunThrough’s events across the region, playing a key role in bringing each event to life on the ground. This is a hands-on, delivery-focused role centred around weekend events, where you’ll be responsible for setting up, managing, and overseeing the event course to ensure a safe, well-marked and smooth experience for all participants.

Working closely with the wider team, you’ll attend weekly planning meetings while dedicating the majority of your time to on-site delivery, either across setup, single or double event weekends. This role is ideal for someone passionate about running and events, who thrives in a dynamic, outdoor environment and enjoys an unconventional working pattern focused on weekends. With full training provided, you’ll have the opportunity to develop your skills while contributing to the continued growth and success of RunThrough’s events in the region.

• Ability to problem-solve and make decisions quickly under pressure
• Excellent communication skills and a friendly, approachable manner
• Hands-on, proactive attitude with a willingness to work outdoors in all conditions
• Full UK driving licence (essential)
