Job summary

Pertemps Gloucester are recruiting for an experienced Counterbalance Forklift Driver to join a busy builders merchant environment in Gloucester on a temp to perm basis. This hands-on role requires juggling several tasks while delivering high standards of service to customers who visit or collect items.

You will operate a Counterbalance forklift, manage deliveries and stock, and support colleagues in a fast-paced setting. Immediate start available and weekly pay during the temporary period.

Qualifications

• Valid Counterbalance Forklift Licence.
• Experience in yard, warehouse or builders merchant settings.
• Comfort with manual handling and physically demanding work.
• Able to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Good maths skills for quantities and order calculations.

Responsibilities

• Operate a Counterbalance Forklift Truck safely.
• Receive and check deliveries from suppliers and returns.
• Store stock accurately in warehouse and yard locations.
• Prepare customer orders and load vehicles.
• Assist customers with collections and returns.
• Load/unload branch vehicles and hauliers.
• Maintain paperwork and report stock discrepancies.
• Carry out stock checks and stocktaking support.
• Perform dailyFLT checks and keep equipment safe.
• Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working area.
• Build positive relationships with customers and colleagues.

Counterbalance Forklift Driver needed in Gloucester, Temp to Perm Contract, Paying £12.75 per hour, Shift pattern, Monday to Thursday: 07:00 - 16:30, Friday: 07:00 - 16:00

Pertemps Gloucester are recruiting for an experienced Counterbalance Forklift Driver to join a busy builders merchant environment in Gloucester on a temp to perm basis. This is a hands on role where you'll be working within a small team and will need to be comfortable juggling several tasks at once. Customer service is a key part of the role, as customer collections are a priority throughout the day.

Key Responsibilities

• Operating a Counterbalance Forklift Truck
• Receiving and checking deliveries from suppliers, other branches and customer returns
• Accurately storing stock in the correct warehouse and yard locations
• Preparing customer orders and loading vehicles
• Assisting customers with collections and returns
• Loading and unloading branch vehicles, hauliers and customer vehicles
• Maintaining accurate paperwork and reporting stock discrepancies or damages
• Carrying out stock checks and supporting stocktaking activities
• Performing daily FLT checks and ensuring equipment remains safe and operational
• Maintaining a clean, organised and safe working environment
• Building positive relationships with customers and colleagues

What We're Looking For

• Valid Counterbalance Forklift Licence
• Previous yard, warehouse, builders merchant or similar experience
• Good attention to detail when checking deliveries and stock
• Comfortable with manual handling and physically demanding work
• Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced environment
• Basic maths skills and confidence working with quantities, measurements and order calculations
• Strong housekeeping standards and pride in maintaining the yard and stock
• Reliable, punctual and hardworking attitude
• Good communication and customer service skills

Ideal Candidate

This role would suit someone with experience in a builders merchant, roofing merchant, timber merchant or construction environment, as product knowledge can be picked up more quickly. However, candidates from other warehouse and yard backgrounds will also be considered.
