Job summary

Carrington West is recruiting an experienced Cost Manager for a major rail infrastructure programme in Birmingham. The role focuses on project controls, forecasting, baseline management and cost analysis across large-scale contracts.

You will manage baselines, challenge contractor forecasts, oversee change control and trend analysis, and report cost performance with strong stakeholder engagement.

Qualifications

• Experience working in a Cost Manager, Cost Controller, Cost Engineer, or Project Controls role.
• Previous experience working on major infrastructure or construction programmes.
• Strong experience with forecasting, baseline management, and cost analysis
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
• Advanced Excel skills
• Experience using cost management systems such as PRISM or Contruent
• Understanding of change control and trend management
• Experience within rail, highways, nuclear, water, or similar infrastructure sectors

Are you an experienced Cost Manager with a strong background in forecasting, baseline management, and cost analysis? Do you want to work on one of the UK’s largest and most high-profile rail infrastructure projects?

Salary: £55,687.20 to £65,514.00 depending on experience

Location: Central Birmingham, 3 days the office per week, 2 from home

I am currently recruiting for an experienced Cost Manager to join a major infrastructure programme in Birmingham. This role sits within a dedicated cost management team and will focus heavily on project controls, forecasting, baseline management, and cost analysis across large-scale contracts. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a background in infrastructure delivery who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment with high levels of stakeholder engagement and clear progression opportunities. The successful candidate will support the management of project baselines, challenge contractor forecasts, oversee change control and trend analysis, and analyse cost performance across delivery programmes. This role is not commercially focused, so candidates with predominantly payment certification or contract administration experience are unlikely to be suitable.
