Job summary

WSP in the UK & Ireland is seeking an Assistant Consultant in Cost Intelligence and Estimating to support and lead defined elements of estimating, cost planning and benchmarking for major infrastructure programmes.

You will work with senior colleagues to prepare and review cost information, apply data-driven cost intelligence, and help project teams make informed commercial decisions while developing your judgement and independence.

Qualifications

• Experience preparing, supporting or reviewing cost estimates, cost plans, bills of quantities, tender information or commercial reports.
• Interest in infrastructure, construction and the built environment.
• Ability to work with increasing independence while following project processes.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Strong communication with colleagues, project teams and clients.
• Proactive approach to learning and personal development.
• Ability to manage tasks, meet deadlines and prioritise workload.

Responsibilities

• Develop estimating, cost planning and commercial management skills on real projects.
• Work across sectors and project stages from optioneering through to procurement and delivery.
• Learn from experienced cost consultants and commercial specialists.
• Apply cost data and benchmarking using digital tools to improve accuracy and transparency.
• Contribute to a growing cost intelligence capability and reporting.
• Pursue professional recognition routes such as RICS or CICES.
• Possibly travel to sites, client offices and other WSP locations as needed.
