Job summary

Wilson James is seeking a Relief Security Officer for London-based, multi-site coverage. This permanent, zero-hours role pays £14.80 per hour and requires a current SIA DS licence, vigilance, and the ability to patrol and monitor sites, respond to incidents, and maintain safety for staff and visitors.

You'll complete detailed reports, assist in emergencies, and adapt to diverse client environments while working as part of a supportive team.

Qualifications

• Must hold a current DS SIA Licence.
• Proven experience in a security role or similar.
• Strong observational skills to identify threats.
• Excellent communication with staff, visitors and authorities.
• Ability to remain calm and decisive in high-pressure situations.
• Flexible to work nights, weekends and public holidays.

Responsibilities

• Welcoming staff and visitors and maintaining a professional atmosphere.
• Conducting regular patrols and monitoring premises to prevent unauthorised access.
• Monitoring access points, CCTV and security procedures.
• Responding to alarms, emergencies and incidents promptly.
• Completing detailed daily activity and incident reports.
• Assisting in emergencies including evacuations and first aid as needed.
• Adapting to different client sites and working as part of a team.
• Remaining calm and acting decisively when concerns arise.

About The Role

• Welcoming staff and visitors and creating a safe, professional atmosphere
• Conducting regular patrols and monitor premises to prevent unauthorised access, theft, or vandalism.
• Monitoring access points, CCTV, and handling security procedures
• Respond promptly to alarms, emergencies, and security incidents, taking appropriate action as needed.
• Complete detailed reports on daily activities, incidents, and any security concerns.
• Assist in emergency situations, including evacuations and first aid support if required.
• Adapting to different client sites – no two days are the same
• Responding calmly and confidently to incidents or concerns

What We Are Looking For

• To hold a current DS SIA Licence
• Proven experience in a security role or a similar position.
• Strong observational skills with the ability to identify and respond to security threats.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with staff, visitors, and authorities.
• Ability to remain calm and act decisively in high-pressure situations.
• Flexibility to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and public holidays.
