Job description

You will earn £25,949 a year working full time (37 hour a week), or £13.45 per hour pro rata, as we are a Voluntary Living Wage employer. The Living Wage is reviewed each year and Cardiff Council reserves the right to make changes to, or remove, the Living Wage Supplement.

Our Specialist Support Team is looking to employ a Corporate Apprentice (Level 2) HR Data & Systems Officer based at HR People Services, Room 348, County Hall, Atlantic Wharf, Cardiff, CF10 4UW, to contribute to our Service helping us to managing and improving the HR People Services corporate and schools’ processes and procedures. We undertake activities concerning process improvement and management information data. We configure and test HR systems to ensure our customers have a positive experience.

This role will involve working online from home and/or a mix of home and office (hybrid) working.

About the job

In this Corporate Apprentice (Level 2) role you will learn to:

  • Develop your analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Configure and testing of HR systems and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Develop a data-led approach by understanding organisational needs.
  • Translate information into efficient and accurate format.
  • Widen your IT and advance on MS Excel skills.

To support your development, you will undertake a Welsh Government Apprenticeship Framework Qualification in Digital Application at Level 2 in the role, and will receive on the job training and supervision to help you deliver an efficient and effective service in a positive and customer focussed manner. You will also be supported by your manager and a named mentor who will encourage you to develop a range of transferrable skills to support your career progression.

This post is temporary for 21 months if worked full time, or longer if worked part time. Most roles are based on a 37-hour week though many roles can be worked on a part time basis at a minimum of 16 hours per week for apprentice roles.

Many of our teams work online with a mix of home and hybrid (office) working. Where homeworking is required, you will be given the necessary equipment and training, however, you will need to arrange your own internet connectivity (support may be available to help with this).
