Job Description

The Corporate Accounting Policy team (CAP) is an independent accounting advisory function within Corporate Finance – Corporate Controllers, under the Bank Controller, Accounting Policy and Reporting (BCAPR) organization. It consists of the Bank Controller, Corporate Accounting Policy, Regulatory Reporting Policy, Inter-entity Analysis, Quality Review & Control, and SEC Reporting teams. CAP partners with the Lines of Business and Corporate Functions by providing accounting expertise (US GAAP and IFRS) in structuring transactions, new products, and addressing issues from new accounting standards and policies.

As a Policy Consultant Vice President on the CAP team, you will support the Markets Businesses, particularly the Equities Business (Cash, Equity Derivatives Group, Prime, and Clearing), and UK Legal Entity Controllers. If you are analytical and collaborative, this team offers opportunities to build strong relationships and engage with firmwide stakeholders.

Job Responsibilities
  • Provide technical accounting support for business activities and large or unusual transactions, partnering with internal teams.
  • Monitor developments in accounting standards and represent the firm at industry forums.
  • Assist in implementing new accounting standards.
  • Review SEC filings and IFRS financial statements, including MD&A and footnotes.
  • Conduct internal education sessions on accounting topics.
  • Support senior management and businesses on accounting and control matters.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor accounting policies and standards.
  • Represent the firm in external forums, meetings with standard-setters, regulators, auditors, and industry groups.
Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills
  • Accounting qualification and experience in a technical accounting role within a financial institution.
  • Deep knowledge of US GAAP or IFRS, especially regarding financial instruments, consolidation, and transfer of financial assets.
  • Results-oriented with ownership of work quality and timeliness.
  • Consistently delivers high-quality work.
  • Team player, available for clients and colleagues.
  • Ability to analyze complex transactions.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of articulating technical issues clearly to various stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills
  • Experience with Big Four firms.
