Essential Job Responsibilities
  1. EU and UK Policy Advocacy Strategy: Design and execute a policy advocacy strategy aligned with the business strategy, focusing on EU policymaking. This includes active lobbying efforts in Brussels and representing the company's advocacy for high-durability carbon removal, including offtake from international DAC plants.
  2. Relationship Building: Develop relationships with policymakers, stakeholders, NGOs, industry groups, and think tanks. Lead responses to industry consultations and participate in industry associations. Build strong ties with government authorities, regulatory bodies, and stakeholders in the UK and EU.
  3. International Collaboration: Support efforts with international frameworks such as UNFCCC, ICAO, and IMO.
  4. Business Support: Assist the business development team in securing offtake agreements, project investments, and engaging with European and UK supply chains for local and offshore projects.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • At least 10 years of advocacy experience in legislative and regulatory policymaking.
  • Established network in the European energy and climate sector, industry, government.
  • Deep understanding of policymaking processes at national, EU, and international levels.
  • Experience working across multiple European countries on policy issues.
  • Background in energy, climate change, or sustainability roles.
  • Knowledge of current energy transition issues and relevant political processes.
Additional Desired Qualifications
  • Expertise in emissions reduction technologies, CCS/CDR, energy markets, carbon markets, environmental economics, or policy analysis.
  • Knowledge of IMO emissions policies.
  • Ability to simplify complex information into clear recommendations.
  • Strong external relationship management skills.
  • Experience working with diverse teams and motivating action.
  • Comfort with delivering presentations to senior stakeholders.
  • Adaptability in dynamic situations.
  • Fluency in English; additional European languages are a plus.
