Job summary

Prospero Teaching is seeking Core Subjects Tutors to support children and young people in Northumberland (Hexham area) on a 1-1 or small group basis. Roles involve delivering Maths, English and Science to those not in full-time education, with flexible, nurturing approaches to overcome barriers.

Sessions are face-to-face in community settings, schools, or at the home. Starting in October 2026, roles offer access to materials and CPD training to help tutors deliver tailored lessons.

Qualifications

• Previous experience with teaching core subjects
• Hold the right to work in the UK
• Hold an enhanced DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
• Be able to reference the last two years of education/employment

Responsibilities

• Deliver one-to-one or small group tuition across core subjects - Maths, English and Science
• Develop and implement personalised lesson plans that address individual learning gaps
• Monitor student progress and provide regular, constructive feedback to students and their families
• Create a supportive and motivating learning environment to help students re-build their confidence in learning
• Complete daily attendance and weekly reports

Core Subjects Tutor - Hexham

Prospero Teaching are partnered with Local Councils, SEND teams and Schools throughout the UK.

We have a high demand for one-to-one or small group Core Subjects Tutors who have experience in delivering Maths, English & Science in Northumberland across Entry Level 3, Level 1 and Level 2.

The Opportunity

We are looking for Core Subjects Tutors in Northumberland (Hexham Area) to support children and young people on a 1-1 or small group basis who are not currently accessing full time education for various reasons.

Many of our young people have not attended school for some time and may have emotional barriers to learning. As a result, we are seeking nurturing Tutors with a patient, flexible approach and a passion for working closely with students to overcome barriers to learning.

Sessions will take place face to face either in a community setting, School/Alternative Provision or at the young person's home.

Position Details:

• Pay rate up to 30 per hour depending on qualification and/or experience
• Up to 15 hours per week per student
• Start date: October 2026
• Location: Hexham
• Duration: ongoing

Your role with us:
