Prospero Teaching is seeking Core Subjects Tutors to support children and young people in Northumberland (Hexham area) on a 1-1 or small group basis. Roles involve delivering Maths, English and Science to those not in full-time education, with flexible, nurturing approaches to overcome barriers.

Sessions are face-to-face in community settings, schools, or at the home. Starting in October 2026, roles offer access to materials and CPD training to help tutors deliver tailored lessons.

Qualifications

Previous experience with teaching core subjects
Hold the right to work in the UK
Hold an enhanced DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
Be able to reference the last two years of education/employment

Responsibilities

Deliver one-to-one or small group tuition across core subjects - Maths, English and Science
Develop and implement personalised lesson plans that address individual learning gaps
Monitor student progress and provide regular, constructive feedback to students and their families
Create a supportive and motivating learning environment to help students re-build their confidence in learning
Complete daily attendance and weekly reports
