Job summary

Prospero Teaching is currently seeking Core Subjects Tutors for the Ashington area in Northumberland. The roles involve delivering Maths, English and Science on a 1-1 or small group basis to students not in full-time education, with sessions in community settings, schools or at home.

Tutors should have experience teaching core subjects, be eligible to work in the UK, and willing to obtain/uphold an enhanced DBS. Access to learning resources and CPD courses is provided.

Qualifications

• Hold the right to work in the UK
• Enhanced DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
• Be able to reference the last two years of education/employment

Responsibilities

• Deliver one-to-one or small group tuition across core subjects - Maths, English and Science
• Develop and implement personalised lesson plans that address individual learning gaps.
• Monitor student progress and provide regular, constructive feedback to students and their families.
• Create a supportive and motivating learning environment to help students re-build their confidence in learning.
• Complete daily attendance and weekly reports.

Core Subjects Tutor - Ashington

Prospero Teaching are partnered with Local Councils, SEND teams and Schools throughout the UK.

We have a high demand for one-to-one or small group Core Subjects Tutors who have experience in delivering Maths, English & Science in Northumberland across Entry Level 3, Level 1 and Level 2.

The Opportunity

We are looking for Core Subjects Tutors in Northumberland (Ashington Area) to support children and young people on a 1-1 or small group basis who are not currently accessing full time education for various reasons.

Many of our young people have not attended school for some time and may have emotional barriers to learning. As a result, we are seeking nurturing Tutors with a patient, flexible approach and a passion for working closely with students to overcome barriers to learning.

Sessions will take place face to face either in a community setting, School/Alternative Provision or at the young person's home.

Position Details:

• Pay rate up to 30 per hour depending on qualification and/or experience
• Up to 15 hours per week per student
• Start date: October 2026
• Location: Ashington
• Duration: ongoing
