Job summary

Prospero Teaching is recruiting Core Subjects Tutors in Newcastle to support students not in full-time education, delivering Maths, English and Science in face-to-face settings.

Tutors will tailor lesson plans, monitor progress, and report to families. Sessions may occur at community venues, schools, or the student's home.

This ongoing role offers up to 15 hours per week per student with pay up to £30 per hour, starting October 2026.

Qualifications

• Experience teaching core subjects (Maths, English or Science) to learners.
• Right to work in the UK.
• Enhanced DBS certificate (or willingness to apply).
• Ability to reference last two years of education/employment.

Responsibilities

• Deliver one-to-one or small-group tuition in Maths, English and Science.
• Develop personalised lesson plans addressing learning gaps.
• Monitor progress and provide regular feedback to students and families.
• Create a supportive learning environment to rebuild confidence.
• Complete daily attendance and weekly reports.

Core Subjects Tutor - Newcastle

Prospero Teaching are partnered with Local Councils, SEND teams and Schools throughout the UK.

We have a high demand for one-to-one or small group Core Subjects Tutors who have experience in delivering Maths, English & Science in Newcastle across Entry Level 3, Level 1 and Level 2.

The Opportunity

We are looking for Core Subjects Tutors in Newcastle to support children and young people on a 1-1 or small group basis who are not currently accessing full time education for various reasons.

Many of our young people have not attended school for some time and may have emotional barriers to learning. As a result, we are seeking nurturing Tutors with a patient, flexible approach and a passion for working closely with students to overcome barriers to learning.

Sessions will take place face to face either in a community setting, School/Alternative Provision or at the young person's home.

Position Details:

• Pay rate up to 30 per hour depending on qualification and/or experience
• Up to 15 hours per week per student
• Start date: October 2026
• Location: Newcastle
• Duration: ongoing

Your role with us:

• Deliver one-to-one or small group tuition across core subjects - Maths, English and Science
• Develop and implement personalised lesson plans that address individual learning gaps.
• Monitor student progress and provide regular, constructive feedback to students and their families.
• Create a supportive and motivating learning environment to help students re-build their confidence in learning.
• Complete daily attendance and weekly reports.

To be eligible for this role, the potential Core Subjects Tutors must:

• Previous experience with teaching core subjects
• Hold the right to work in the UK
• Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
• Be able to reference the last two years of education/employment
