Job summary

Impact Food Group in the York & Thirsk area is seeking a Relief Cook Manager to lead a friendly kitchen team and deliver fresh, seasonal meals to students. This hands-on management role covers day shifts from 8am to 2pm, five days a week during term time plus inset days.

You’ll manage daily kitchen operations, plan menus, supervise staff, ensure food safety, liaise with onsite clients, and maintain high standards. The role offers a strong work‑life balance and development opportunities.

Qualifications

• Previous experience managing a kitchen, ideally in schools or high-volume catering environments.
• Skilled in preparing fresh, seasonal food.
• Strong people management and team leadership skills.
• Good organisational and communication skills.
• A proactive, hands‑on approach with pride in maintaining high standards.
• Good understanding of food hygiene and safety regulations.

Responsibilities

• Managing the day-to-day running of the kitchen
