Job summary

Holroyd Howe is seeking a passionate Relief Chef Manager to lead kitchen operations across multiple schools, delivering high-quality meals and ensuring exceptional service for pupils, staff, and visitors.

You will join a UK-leading contract caterer dedicated to fresh, innovative food services for independent schools and colleges, with strong emphasis on allergen management and safeguarding policies.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Relief Chef Manager or in contract catering, ideally in independent education.
• Strong kitchen management and leadership abilities.
• Passionate about fresh, seasonal ingredients and balanced menus.
• Excellent organisational and communication skills.
• Knowledge of food safety, allergen controls and sustainability best practices.

Responsibilities

• Lead kitchen operations ensuring high standards of quality, safety, and presentation.
• Manage and support a small kitchen team, fostering a positive environment.
• Oversee menu planning, stock control, and supplier relationships.
• Maintain budgets, ordering, and stock rotation with accurate records.
• Ensure compliance with food safety, health & safety and safeguarding policies.
• Collaborate with school community to provide a friendly, efficient catering experience.
• Champion allergen controls and safe mealtimes for pupils.
